# Prythian / ACOTAR — evidence and authored scene brief

Verified 30 September 2026. This is an original fan atlas, not an official or licensed product. The audit covers **25/25 selectable places**: 16 in `world.js`, 9 in `spring-court.js`. All original place IDs and anchors survive. No new named POIs, plot events, commits or deployment are included.

`research.json` is the per-place ledger: **5 supported, 15 partial, 5 interpretive**. A supported geographical feature still has illustrative colors and elevations. Partial means a location or function is supported but its architecture/placement is not fully established. Interpretive means the represented POI or staged scene has no direct canonical placement. Unverified does not mean disproven.

## Sources actually inspected

1. **Primary map:** [Bloomsbury publisher poster](https://media.bloomsbury.com/rep/files/sarah-j-maas-map-poster.pdf), PDF page 1. Visually inspected. Supports the existing coast/anchor registration and continental geography. This is an expanded series poster: it includes later-series names. It is not proof that every label appears in book one.
2. **Primary authorized sample:** [LoveReading / Bloomsbury opening excerpt](https://www.lovereading.co.uk/extract/14316/A-Court-of-Thorns-and-Roses-by-Sarah-J-Maas.html), PDF pp.3–4: two map panels; PDF p.5: Chapter 1 opening; PDF p.12 / printed p.8: end of the opening chapter. Visually inspected raster pages. The simpler map confirms the seven court arrangement, Hybern, the two Wall lines, Feyre’s village marker, the eastern continental mountain ring and its unnamed lake. Vallahan is **not labeled** on this sample map. Snow and ice appear in the opening hunting scene. The sample does not establish a specific first-edition printing or ISBN.
3. **Secondary, chapter-specific:** [LitCharts Chapter 3](https://www.litcharts.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/chapter-3), opening market paragraphs: village trading square, pelt trade, cobbler and clothier. [Chapter 5](https://www.litcharts.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/chapter-5), estate arrival: northern travel and manor gates, but no usable exact manor coordinates. [Chapter 6](https://www.litcharts.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/chapter-6), opening arrival paragraphs: manor, roses, green hills, spring flowers and entry stairs.
4. **Secondary, chapter-specific:** [SparkNotes Chapters 6–8](https://www.sparknotes.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/section2/), Chapter 8: Feyre explores the garden. [Chapters 12–14](https://www.sparknotes.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/section4/), Chapter 13: study, geography mural, seven courts. [Chapters 18–20](https://www.sparknotes.com/lit/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/section6/), Chapter 18: Pool of Starlight excursion; Chapter 19: gallery, painting room, garden. These are **chapter locators in summaries**, not directly verified printed pages from the novel.
5. **Qualified fan reference:** [The Book Feed — Tamlin’s Manor](https://thebookfeed.com/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/locations-acotar/tamlins-manor/), Location, Description, Notable Locations/The Stables and Rose Garden sections. Supports pale/alabaster description, exterior balconies, gardens, stables and fountain as secondary evidence only. The page mixes multiple books and supplies no reliable page locator. Temple, Tithe, later guests, family history and later events were not imported.
6. **Qualified fan reference:** [The Book Feed — Feyre’s Village](https://thebookfeed.com/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/feyres-village/), Description: modest stone houses, mud streets and market square. Its later wartime section was excluded. [Under the Mountain](https://thebookfeed.com/a-court-of-thorns-and-roses/under-the-mountain/), Location: central Middle between Dawn and Winter; bare mountain. Interiors, trials and later sister-peak material were excluded.

Fandom court/manor pages returned access errors and are not used as evidence. Thulr’s [manor guide](https://thulr.co/series/acotar/tamlins-manor) was consulted but its chapter assignments were not treated as authoritative: the claimed stable/riding material under Chapter 17 was not independently verified. No homepage or series introduction is used as blanket architectural proof. Third-party illustrations are not architectural evidence or bundled assets.

## Registration and scope boundary

North stays up. The inherited reference capture was 1440×720 at 55% PDF zoom, inner map frame x546–1197, y130–615. All original outline points, island polygons and place anchors retain the shared transform:

`x = (referenceX - 546) / 651 * 1800 - 900`

`z = (referenceY - 130) / 485 * 1340 - 670`

| Original anchor | Reference pixels | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Night | 746, 293 | Region label, not a city |
| Day | 762, 349 | Region label |
| Dawn | 779, 380 | Region label |
| Winter | 770, 427 | Region label |
| Summer / Autumn | 724, 464 / 796, 465 | Regional centers |
| Spring | 735, 496 | Region label |
| Under the Mountain | 769, 397 | Approximate mountain anchor, not a door |
| Hybern | 611, 435 | Island region |
| Faerie Realms | 1100, 287 | Continental region |
| Island / eastern Mortal Lands | 740, 556 / 1091, 555 | Two separate human territories |
| Vallahan | 1091, 190 | Expanded-poster context only |
| Wall | 765, 517 | Boundary anchor |
| Estate portal | 751, 498 | Explicit staging, not publisher location |
| Feyre’s village | 770, 539 | Approximate source village marker |

Court washes remain schematic bands. Dawn now ends before the central mountain belt, and Winter begins below it; that neutral belt is not colored as Dawn. Added continental and island relief follows visible mountain hatching, not elevations supplied by the map. The eastern lake is an approximate new trace of a visible **unnamed** water body. The continental boundary and southern river/low hills are schematic traces. No measured overlay-error tolerance is claimed.

“Prythian” is an appropriate setting/worldName for this mapped realm. It is not established here as the planet’s name. The continent to the east is contextual geography. Parent owns manifest/catalog metadata.

## Place-by-place implementation

| Place | Source-supported anchor or feature | Authored composition and limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Night Court | Northern court and mountain hatching | Slate lookout, angular terrace and low hall; not Velaris or a known palace |
| Day Court | Between Night and Dawn | Open ivory council enclosure, colonnades and small obelisk; civic use is invented |
| Dawn Court | Below Day, above central mountains | Rose-toned horizontal hall, shallow terrace and unequal end pavilions |
| Winter Court | Below central mountain belt | Compact shelter courtyard, steep slate roofs, snow wash and pine accents |
| Summer Court | Western seasonal court beside coast | Asymmetric low loggia and paved garden; no Adriata harbor/city claim |
| Autumn Court | Eastern seasonal territory with woods/uplands | Timber-and-stone T-plan hall, russet trees and small service range |
| Spring Court | Southern court, flowering estate context | Garden-service emblem distinct from the manor portal |
| Under the Mountain | Central mountain belt | Taller bare relief, scree and shoulder rocks, without buildings or interior spoilers |
| Hybern | Island outline and mapped relief | Northern rim and wooded southern spine; no arbitrary palace/capital |
| Faerie Realms | Continental relief, forest and lake | Mountain crescent and actual carved lake; no later-book lake name |
| Mortal Lands | Southern territory; winter in Chapter 1 | Muted winter ground and small illustrative fields |
| Eastern Mortal Lands | Below continental Wall | Sparse low hills and southern river, not a generic village |
| Vallahan | Expanded poster label | Northern foothill/rim relief, no book-one architectural assertion |
| Wall | Map boundary across both landmasses | Thin dashed line through woodland and across continent; no masonry rampart |
| Spring estate | Tamlin’s manor setting | Fourteen principal masses match the detailed plan at 0.09 scale around its manor anchor |
| Feyre’s village | Village marker and trading square | Eight unequal stone cottages/shops, two market canopies and a bent lane |
| The manor | Roses, large house, gallery/study, entry stairs; pale exterior from secondary source | Tall central block, lower connectors, projecting entrance, paired end pavilions, short side wings, arcaded terraces and parapets; no Gothic injection |
| Arrival court | Outdoor approach and stairs | Fountain loop, cypress, benches and paths that bypass the fountain |
| Rose gardens | Garden; rose/fountain detail from qualified secondary reference | Cutting beds, rose fan, oval walk and offset parterres rather than four repeated squares |
| Garden pavilion | No direct evidence found | Original low copper dome, column ring and paired shaded walks |
| Glasshouse | No direct evidence found | Glazed barrel vault, nursery wing and work terrace, with iron-glass material |
| Stable yard | Stable function from qualified secondary reference | Stall range, hay barn, tack wing, trough, paddock, partitions and service paths |
| Orchard | No book-one evidence found | Staggered fruit-tree rows, meadow edge, hedge and harvest lane |
| Lily pool | No direct evidence found | Reed/willow pond with three-arch crossing; **not** the Pool of Starlight |
| Feyre cameo | Garden visits | Quiet human-scale pose, clothing and exact position are staged |

All detail-scene places retain `canon: 'interpretation'`, because the complete local plan is authored. `research.json` gives finer evidence distinctions. Pavilion, glasshouse, orchard and lily-pool source arrays intentionally remain empty; contextual URLs would falsely imply proof. Feyre’s cameo has a garden-visit source but an interpretive status.

The manor roof revision specifically addresses the oversized unbroken roof planes: the old long main roof is replaced by a taller central block, lower linking ranges and projecting pavilions. Flat terrace galleries provide another height tier; the front portico has a supported canopy and low parapet. These are declared interpretations built around supported exterior functions, not a newly “discovered” canonical plan. Dimensions and roof forms are never attributed to the novel.

## Runtime, geometry and integration

- Only this pack’s two scene scripts and evidence files are changed by this assignment. No shared renderer/architecture edits and no `book.js` edits are part of this work.
- Retained 1800×1340 overview and 840×840 detail extents, north-up coordinates, portal ID, parent link and all 25 place IDs/anchors. No new scene dependencies or services.
- `street.human` is explicitly 1 in the estate and remains .08 in the world. Broad massing and selected `landmark` halls work with parent’s physical facade relief; miniature ornament stays disabled. No manually duplicated window/door-frame systems.
- Read `atlas.js`, `architecture.js`, scene schema, `terrain.js`, structure builders and validator before editing. Engine `hills.h` and `ridges.h` are signed additive values; `cuts` carve **water** relative to their level. No dry excavation is needed here, and no unsupported mesa API is used.
- Flatten pads seat the authored buildings. Explicit-height manor parapets rest on flat roofs; the canopy rests over the entrance columns. Pool bridge endpoints are outside both banks. Water has finite explicit levels. No ground-level navigation or interiors added.
- Negative terrain-cut depth is used only for the two actual water basins. Terrain colors do not substitute for the eastern lake or local pond geometry.
- Existing continent/estate land polygons deliberately extend beyond their scene rectangles. The schema validator’s two extent warnings are inherited intentional cropping, not misplaced POIs.

## Verification and remaining limits

Final verification on 30 September 2026:

- Both scene scripts pass syntax and repository schema validation; the two intentional oversized-land warnings described above remain.
- Both scenes pass the CPU geometry test with no geometry errors/warnings. Additional checks confirm every XYZ vertex is finite, all building centers are dry, the bridge endpoints are dry, and both lakes hold water.
- A comparison against the starting repository confirms all 25 place IDs/coordinates and every original land polygon remain unchanged.
- Parent's research audit passes 25/25 records, including names/kinds and evidence URL consistency.
- Existing ACOTAR browser smoke passes **14/14**: independent loading, seven courts, estate portal, interpretation labels, cameo search/rendering and aerial clearance. No browser console exceptions or failed requests.
- Visually inspected overview, southern courts/village, eastern lake after rim smoothing, estate overview, manor at distances 360, 180 and minimum 110, stable yard and pond. Roof silhouette refinement and dry bank-to-bank bridge are visible.
- Scene payloads gzip to **8,374 bytes world + 6,238 bytes estate** (14,612 total); research ledger is not fetched by the viewer. Final CPU builds contain 52/49 structures and approximately 30,374/90,100 opaque-plus-glass triangles respectively.
- One local 1440×900 headless Chrome/Metal smoke run reported 38.2 MB GPU, 203 ms build, frame median 16.6 ms / p95 19.8 ms for the estate sample. This is a single desktop check, not a mobile-device performance guarantee.

Preview captures are temporary review artifacts: `/tmp/acotar-research/spring-final-2.png` (manor composition), `/tmp/acotar-research/manor-minimum-1.png` (minimum aerial range), and `/tmp/acotar-research/lake-final-1.png` (smoothed eastern lake).

This was a bounded audit of represented places and nearby omissions, **not exhaustive novel coverage**. Beyond the authorized first-chapter excerpt, details rely on qualified secondary sources. No exact estate location, first-edition provenance, measured map error, court-capital plan, historical style or full continental lore was verified. Pool of Starlight and book-one forest encounters were researched contextually but not given invented coordinates. Later-series named locations, priestess temple and story events remain excluded.

Parent integration needs: preserve the intentional empty sources on admitted inventions; use the ledger statuses rather than treating every contextual source as canonical architecture. Keep the scoped manor proportions in overview and detail synchronized. Re-run the existing ACOTAR portal/aerial smoke and final shared-engine suite after all agents finish. No extra geometry helper is required for this pack.
