RuneCharted
A little guidance
for your journey.
Answers about the published maps, imagined cities, spoilers, mobile controls and free access to RuneCharted.
Is RuneCharted free?
Yes. The seven available worlds are free to explore in your browser, with no account or download required.
Which books have maps?
You can explore Fourth Wing (The Empyrean), The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive), Mistborn: The Final Empire, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, The Raven Scholar (Eternal Path Trilogy), and The Pariah (The Covenant of Steel). Each world also includes a closer scene. See the collection and spoiler notes.
Are these the maps from the books?
At the widest zoom, the viewer displays the credited published map artwork. Zooming closer reveals RuneCharted’s interpreted 3D terrain and towns. The printed maps establish geography; they do not establish every roof, street or courtyard. Editions can differ, so check the source credit in the viewer.
Can I connect my Goodreads shelves?
Choose Connect Goodreads on the homepage, then import your Goodreads library CSV export. Matching books appear under Read, Currently reading and Want to read. This is a private snapshot saved in your browser, not an automatically synced account. Import again to update it or choose Remove saved shelves to clear it. Series matches open the available first-book map.
Is this an official atlas?
No. RuneCharted is an independent fan project and is not endorsed by the authors, artists or publishers. Each map guide includes sources and explains the limits of the reconstruction.
Will I see spoilers?
Location names may appear before you encounter them in the story. Major later-book Stormlight locations have a reveal control, but there is no chapter-by-chapter filter. Read your world’s guide before opening it.
How do I zoom, move and look at buildings?
Scroll or pinch to zoom; drag with a mouse or one finger to pan. Right-drag or Shift-drag to tilt and orbit. On a touchscreen, slide two fingers together vertically to tilt, or twist to rotate. The tilt buttons work on both desktop and mobile. Zoom closer for a lower viewing angle; the reset button returns to the whole map.
Does night mode work on the printed map?
Night mode changes the lighting in the 3D world. It leaves the published artwork unchanged. Zoom in to see the evening sky and lit windows.
Why does the map slow down on my device?
Detailed scenes use your device’s graphics hardware. Close other demanding tabs, try a smaller browser window, or explore at a wider zoom. The text guides remain available if your browser cannot run WebGL 2.
Does the site track my searches?
RuneCharted’s analytics records page visits and which book and map scene you open. It does not send your search text or selected place to Google Analytics. You can turn site analytics off for this browser on the Privacy page.
