RuneCharted ATLAS

Your first visit

Find your way
through the atlas.

Start with the wider map, follow a label that catches your eye, then move closer to the rooftops. Here are the controls and reading tips for RuneCharted’s interactive fantasy maps.

Choose a map

1. Choose a book and a map

Open a world from the map collection. Each guide explains the available areas and spoiler limits. In the viewer, the map tabs switch between the wider setting and the detailed areas. You can also zoom through marked portals to enter a closer map.

The wider map establishes relationships between places. A detailed view shows an original interpretation of a smaller area; it is not a survey or a complete architectural plan.

2. Move from the world to the rooftops

Zoom closer to unlock a lower viewing angle. The camera stays above the ground and buildings: this is an aerial atlas, with no walking or interior mode. The toolbar also offers an overhead view, map labels and night lighting.

3. Read the place cards

Select a named place to see its description and interpretation note. “Explore from above” focuses the view; locations with a connected detailed scene may also offer “Open detailed map.” Use the search field to find places across the maps in the current book.

The viewer’s URL records the book, scene and selected place, so you can copy the browser address to return to that view. Camera angle and zoom are not included in that link.

Check spoilers before opening later-book places

The Stormlight atlas starts with major later-book places hidden. Choosing one opens a reveal dialog, and the help panel includes a later-book-places control. Your choice is remembered for that book on the current device.

Some minor geography from later-book maps is already visible with a note on its location card. The atlas does not filter by your current chapter, so read the individual map guide for its scope.

If a map does not open

The interactive viewer needs JavaScript and WebGL 2. Use a browser with WebGL 2 enabled and allow the scene to finish opening before exploring. The text guides and map collection remain available without the 3D viewer.

On supported browsers, RuneCharted can be installed from the browser’s app controls. The app shell and visited map files can be cached for offline use; unvisited worlds still need a connection, and offline availability depends on the files retained by your browser.
